Mical was a male human, and former Jedi Padawan, who would become a crew member of the Jedi Exile during her battles with the Sith Triumvirate, and would later go on to become one of the founders of the new Jedi Order in the wake of the First Jedi Purge. Also known under the alias “Disciple”, Mical was a powerful Force-sensitive, loyal to the Jedi way until the end of his life.

Early Life – Apprenticeship Neglected

When Mical was but a child, he was found to be strong in the Force, and was thus sent to the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine to be trained there. While still only a youngling, he became infatuated with the Jedi who would later become known as the Jedi Exile when she taught his class about listening to the Force, and, in her words, how it sang within others. When reflecting on the experience with the Exile later in life, Mical would compare his experiences with her to those he had shared with Master Vrook Lamar, expressing his belief that while Vrook was experienced and wise, he possessed none of the leadership capabilities the Exile exhibited naturally. From that point onward, Mical desired no other master than the Jedi Exile for his training once he had come of age. This hope would not be fulfilled, however, as the Mandalorian war effort came to the Republic, and the Revanchist movement formed. The Jedi Exile was among some of the first to join the effort to stop the Mandalorians against the wishes of the Jedi Council, and, unfortunately for Mical, his coming of age came too late. When he was ready to be apprenticed, the Jedi left to the Order were stretched too thin, and Mical was left without a Master. He was thus denied membership within the Order for this reason, coupled with his feelings for the Order following the Jedi Exile’s sentencing, and a belief that the teachings of the council were flawed. Mical instead chose to serve the Republic as a historian and guardian of Jedi knowledge.

Journey with the Exile – Feelings Rekindled

In the days following the Jedi Civil War, when Jedi began disappearing all across the galaxy, Mical began to search for relics of the Jedi in order to preserve their history, being one of the few people who still carried distinctive opinions on the Sith and Jedi. Fearing the loss of their wisdom more than the loss of the Jedi themselves, Mical invested most of his time in search of these artifacts, until word of a Jedi on Dantooine caught his attention. Believing the rumor to be a valid one, Mical left immediately for the planet, and upon his arrival, began searching the ruins of the Jedi Enclave, hoping to find clues to the Master’s whereabouts. Finding nothing, Mical was greeted unexpectedly by the Jedi Exile, who was also in search of the Jedi Master. Though Mical recognised the Exile immediately, she did not recognise him, and so he kept his identity as her prospective padawan many years ago a secret. He instead offered his services as a member of the Republic, which the Exile gratefully accepted.

While on the Ebon Hawk, Mical served as a medic to the rest of the crew, but spent the majority of his time with the Jedi Exile, whom he did not long hide his feelings for. As time progressed and the two became closer, Mical shared his identity with the Exile, and how his connection to the Force, and his ability to use it, had faded with time. The Exile offered to re-establish his abilities in the Force, and take him on as her padawan at long last, which Mical was quick to agree to, beginning his training as a Jedi Consular. As time progressed and their training became more intimate, Mical could not long hold back his feelings for the Exile. Even knowing that such emotions were forbidden for a Jedi, he believed that the Order itself was flawed for ideas against love and commitment, and that living logically involved making connections with others, even so intimate that they came to the point of romantic feelings, and denying that natural course of life was a failing that the Jedi would need to overcome to survive. These sentiments were reflected in his interactions with the Exile, which were flirtatious and coy, even though he never truly acted on his feelings. These interactions lead him to clash with Atton Rand, who also held affections for the Exile.

During their mission to find the Jedi Masters, Mical continued a secretive mission of his own, involving discovering Jedi and attempting to convince them to join the Republic. He would contact his superiors at regular intervals, updating them on his progress, but making sure to never reveal his ulterior agenda to anyone, even the Exile herself. Mical also began studying in secret the methods and tactics of Darth Revan during the Jedi Civil War, searching for a clue as to his motivation for attacking the Republic in the first place. After much research, Mical came to the conclusion that Revan’s tactics were never meant to destroy the Republic, but rather to unite it and reinforce it under a singular banner, perhaps against an unknown threat lurking just beyond detection. However, just as he stumbled upon this startling revelation, Kreia ambushed Mical, wiping his memory of the knowledge, to be replenished when she deemed it to be the right time.

After the meeting with the Jedi Masters on Dantooine, the Exile began to distance herself from her crew. When Mical came to her to address what was bothering her, she elaborated on what the council had told her, and her fear that she had been influencing them all without knowing it. Mical consoled her, and assured her that when others followed her, it was their choice to do so. That simplifying her natural ability to lead, like the Jedi Masters had done, was denying exactly what made them living beings with minds of their own, and reigniting the Exile’s determination to defeat the Sith threat.

To the End – A Dignified Future

Mical would follow the Jedi Exile until her final confrontation with Traya at the core of Malachor V, but was, like many of her crew, left behind with a nearly broken galaxy as she left known space to search for Revan. The young Jedi Consular would go on to help re-establish the Jedi Order with other disciples that the Exile had trained, and eventually held a seat on the new Jedi Council, though he did so reluctant to partake in the hierarchy and power involved. Little is known about his exploits in the years following the fall of the Sith Triumvirate, but it is speculated that he did much to restore order to the Republic, in his own way.

Personality and Traits

Ever the gentleman, Mical tended to carry himself with an air of dignity and sophistication, always showing the utmost courtesy and politeness to whomever he interacted with. Most likely a product of his Jedi training, Mical was also a calm, collected individual, and rarely would raise his voice or behave temperamentally towards others. Many of the opposite sex considered him handsome, and Mical would scarce hesitate to flirt with someone he found attractive, most notably the Jedi Exile. His views on love and compassion were very much in opposition of the Jedi Order’s, which acted as one of the many reasons he would leave the Order, coupled with other philosophies against the dehumanization practised by the Jedi Council. This was only one part of the Disciple’s personality, however, and one that he portrayed to others most of the time.

The other side of Mical’s character involved careful secrecy and emotional distance, such as keeping others from knowing his past or his intentions, and keeping his missions to himself, even with those that he truly trusted. Another facet of this area of his personality was a keen interest in keeping historical records safe, and a curiosity involving the past intentions of others, leading him to uncover knowledge that few others had been privy to, secret knowledge that he was hesitant to share with others. Though, over time, emotions for the Exile would break down some of these walls of distrust, and give her access to some aspects of Mical that were withheld from many individuals before her.
